"For 2025, the economy is expected to grow again, but at a slower level than the previous year; there are many challenges ahead, mainly due to deep structural issues; our expectation is for a growth of about 4 percent, still very leveraged by the impact of diamond production, particularly due to the restart of Luele Mine at the end of 2023 and the increase in operations," analysts in a commentary on the evolution of the economy writes the evolution of the economy. national.

In the document, sent to customers and to which Lusa had access, BFA says the numbers "will be less positive in terms of private consumption, so sectors such as trade should grow below average, but there are still positive signs about financing, which will have a major impact on the evolution of the construction sector."

With regard to inflation, which is one of the highest in Africa, the BFA Economic Study Office predicts that the prices rise to be high, coming from 21 to 22 percent at the end of the year.

"Our projection indicates a slight acceleration in the second quarter, fueled by the increase in the price of diesel, in the context of gradual withdrawal of fuel subsidies, the effects of salary adjustments in the public sector and the evolution of eating prices at international level," they say, yet there should be a slowdown as the year approaches the end.

BFA forecasts come at the same time as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, the growth forecast for Angola, with the IMF is now predicting 2.4 percent expansion, compared to 2.8 percent that in October, it predicted that the country grow this year.

The World Bank now foresees that the second largest oil producer in sub -Saharan Africa grows only 2.7 percent, when in October 2024 it provided for a 2.9 percent expansion, and also makes a strong revision of inflation, which has been expected to six months ago pointed to 16.1 percent, and is now one of 14 countries that have a two -digit inflation.
