The visit, which took place this Monday, began at the Huambo stadium. Work on this infrastructure has been stopped for a few months, and will resume soon "after strategies have been redefined with the construction company CORA", says a statement from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, to which VerAngola had access.
On that occasion, the minister received detailed information from the contractor, who said that the works were physically executed in the order of 34 percent, and that, "at this moment, the two main stands, top and west (with two rings), are already built, as well as the ticket office area, bar support, offices".
This, which is the largest sports structure in the aforementioned province, is being built from scratch and will have a capacity for 10 thousand people.
The holder of the Youth and Sports portfolio also visited the Osvaldo Serra Van-Dúnem Pavilion, which was built as part of Afro Basket 2007, organized at the time by Angola.
Here, "the local authorities presented a reasonable framework for the practice of indoor sports", however, "the main concerns relate to the lighting, damaged giant screens, the electrical system, water leakage even with the piping installed", refers to the note, which reminds that this pavilion usually hosts at least five national championships per year.
Furthermore, on his field trip, the minister also visited some private sports infrastructures, which contribute to encouraging sports in Huambo, such as the Electro do Huambo and Ferrovia sports complexes.
On the occasion, the minister said that the concern is to complete the Huambo stadium, whose deadlines must, from the outset, be met.
"At this moment, the initial concern is related to the completion of the Huambo Stadium, which in principle the deadlines will be met. Then, gradually, the Government, within the framework of its responsibility with sports infrastructures will give due treatment to other infrastructures", he indicated.
The note recalls that the ministry plans to inaugurate, by next year, the Huambo and Uíge stadiums, the José Armando Sayovo High Performance Sports Center (Bengo) and also the "total recovery of the 11 de Novembro National Stadium".
