Within the framework of bilateral cooperation, the Executive of Equatorial Guinea gave the 'green light' to the start of TAAG flights on the route between Luanda and Malabo, both in regional and international connections. According to Jornal de Angola, the state-owned airline will start the connection between Luanda and Malabo this year.

The start of these flights, for the Malabo Executive, "represents added value at all levels as it allows a direct connection between Central Africa and Southern Africa, both for tourism purposes and to boost the business sector, within the scope of of the African Continental Free Trade Area", highlights a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The announcement results from information released this Tuesday at a meeting between António Luvualu de Carvalho, Angola's extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador in that country – who is at the end of his mission –, and Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, vice-president of Equatorial Guinea.

Between 2006 and 2007, the two countries established a dozen bilateral cooperation agreements, which came into effect in January 2020, in the areas of Defence, Education and Training, Trade, Visa Exemption in Diplomatic and Service Passports, Fisheries, Works Public Services and Construction, Culture, Air Transport, Petroleum and Security and Public Order.

On the occasion, the vice president of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea highlighted the "excellent bilateral cooperation existing between the two countries and peoples, with particular emphasis on the close collaboration" at the level of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), Gulf Commission of Guinea - currently chaired by Malabo -, the Economic Community of Central African States [CEEAC], the African Union and the United Nations.
