Playing at home, Cagliari entered the match with the 'left foot'. Parma needed just 10 minutes to open the scoring, with a goal from Adrian Benedyczak.

Going into the break losing by two balls to zero, Cagliari would turn around in the second half of the game, when Cagliari coach Claudio Ranieri made some changes to the team and decided to field Zito Luvumbo, who did not lost time in showing what it's worth and in the 68th minute reduced the difference on the scoreboard.
Still losing, in the 85th minute, Cagliari tied the match with a goal from Gianluca Lapadula.
Close to the final whistle, in the 89th minute, Zito Luvumbo scored twice against Parma and, consequently, the winning goal of the match.
At the final whistle, the score was 3-2. Cagliari thus heads off with a victory for the second leg of the play-off semi-finals for promotion to Serie A, which will be played next Saturday (June 3).
