Alexandre Santos reveals that referees at Girabola are attacked and no one is sanctioned

The Portuguese coach, who gave Petro de Luanda the second consecutive title of champion of Angola on Sunday, urged the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) to put an end to the intimidation of Angolan referees.

"What I most often pointed out was the lack of protection that the refereeing teams have at Girabola, there is constant pressure from the refereeing team in all circumstances, there is a culture often that who puts the most pressure, who intimidates the most, who claims the most is who benefits the most", he noted.

Alexandre Santos revealed that "the refereeing teams are often verbally attacked and have already been physically attacked, but no one was punished".

"There were several times, after our goals, game stoppages for 10 or 15 minutes due to the impossibility of continuing the game because the teams did not want to continue the game and protested, vehemently, and did not allow the game to restart, and, at the end of it all, no one is punished", he reinforced to Lusa.

As for winning the second championship, the Portuguese coach said that the feeling is of "work done and rewarded", for the effort undertaken throughout the season.

"All the dedication we had from the technical, medical, logistics team, Bruno Vicente as project coordinator, João Cláudio, who is our team manager, and then the entire structure of Catetão and especially the players. a great score again, we are once again very dominant in Angolan football and worthy representatives of Angolan football on the African continent. We are very happy with this second championship, and we were, without a doubt, more consistent than the main rival, August," he assured.

Santos expressed the existence of several people, with emphasis on commentators, who did not believe that his formation would regain the Angolan champion trophy.

"Some people thought we weren't going to make it and, naturally, sometimes they didn't give us the support the team deserved. We often feel that on the part of many commentators and many people who gravitate around football, but, as a family, we were very strong and we started for a very strong final point and we didn't give our opponents any chance", he said.

The Portuguese coach assured that he will continue in charge of the two-time Angolan champions, and realized that his contract will be renewed, despite admitting the interest of several African clubs in signing him.

"African clubs have been paying attention to our work. Thankfully, because it means that we have been shaping African football for the last two seasons and that's why African clubs look at Petro differently. So I'm not After all, Petro was supposed to present my renewal, we simply thought that there were much more important things to deal with than that, but both Petro and I have our eyes on next season and we are aware that it will be even more difficult," he declared.

Petro de Luanda, which secured the title one day from the end of the competition, thus remains the most titled team in Angolan football, with 17 championships won, two of which under the command of Alexandre Santos.
