According to a brief note from the Presidency, which VerAngola had access to, Samakuva – speaking at the end of the meeting – informed that he had approached the head of state with the idea of creating a future Jonas Malheiro Savimbi foundation, at the behest of the family and the UNITA, which has been structured for a year, "but with some slowness".
"We came to ask for some guidance," he added, quoted in the note.
On the occasion, adds the statement, the former UNITA leader also said that the audience with the President "was at his request", and he understands "that a 77-year-old citizen, who has always served the country, should not remain silent" before the reality of the country, having to "contribute with ideas and opinions".
Remember that Jonas Savimbi was the founding leader of UNITA in 1966, having died in 2002.
