According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE), João Gomes Cravinho will chair the III Portugal-Angola Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Tuesday, to monitor the evolution of bilateral relations and the application of the instruments signed between the two countries, in a meeting that it will also serve to address the official visit of the Prime Minister, António Costa, in June.

"The major themes of the regional and international agendas, the CPLP and the promotion of mobility between the two countries will also be on the agenda of this meeting", in which the Secretaries of State for Foreign Affairs, Francisco André, from the Sea, José Maria Costa, from Social Security, Gabriel Bastos, and from Agriculture, Gonçalo Rodrigues, said the ministry.

Gomes Cravinho will meet in Luanda with his counterpart, Téte António, and with the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Manuel Nunes Júnior, and will travel to Rwanda the following day, where the agenda will also be dominated by the promotion of economic relations and commercials.

The official, accompanied by a business delegation, will meet "public and private actors in the Rwandan economic fabric" and learn about the projects of Portuguese companies in the country.

The MNE points out that the visit "aims to give new impetus to the economic ties between Portugal and Rwanda, with emphasis on the areas of infrastructure and energy".

In Rwanda, Gomes Cravinho will meet with his Rwandan counterpart, Vincent Biruta, on Thursday, with whom he will exchange views on regional and international issues, such as the situation in the Central African Republic, Mozambique and Sudan, and will also be received in Kigali by the Prime Minister, Édouard Ngirente.

The signing of some instruments in the sectors of energy, internationalization and diplomatic training is foreseen.

Gomes Cravinho's African week ends on the 5th of May, the date on which the World Portuguese Language Day is celebrated, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The minister will participate in the seminar "The presence of the Portuguese language in international organizations in Africa", organized by the local group of ambassadors of Member States of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), with the support of the African Union Commission.

At the seminar, Portuguese and international speakers will discuss the challenges and opportunities in promoting the Portuguese language in the African and international multilateral architecture.
