According to the minister, quoted by Angop, contracts signed through this program reached 953.97 billion kwanzas, of which 568.77 billion kwanzas have so far been collected by the State.

This amount, according to Angop, originated from the privatization of 92 assets: 11 of national reference, 20 participated companies and assets of the national oil company Sonangol, 30 units of the Special Economic Zone and another 31 companies and assets.

Cited by Angop, the minister also informed that the contracts ensured 2763 direct jobs (1233 new jobs and 1530 maintenance jobs).

"The Angolan Executive has been implementing a set of political and economic reforms that are reversing the structural and cyclical imbalances in the economy, strengthening the sustainability of public finances and boosting the private sector, giving the country greater robustness and resilience to external factors", said Vera Daves.

The minister also added that "the Privatization Program, approved by Presidential Decree n.º 250/19 of 5 August for a period of four years, i.e. 2019-2022, with the aim of resizing the sector public business, reduce the level of State intervention in the economy, relaunch the role of the private sector as an engine of development of the national economy, as well as improve the quality and variety of goods and services available".

This Wednesday, according to a brief note from the Ministry of Finance – to which VerAngola had access – the Institute for the Management of Assets and State Participation (IGAPE) presented Propriv's assets available for the next three years.

It should be recalled that, in March of this year, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, through a presidential decree, approved the extension of the programme, whose expectation for 2023-2026 is to privatize a total of 73 assets.
