The national airline will increase the number of weekly flights between Luanda and Lisbon to 12 and resume the connection to Porto, in addition to reinforcing connections to South Africa and Mozambique, it was announced this Monday.

:

"Following its growth policy and in order to provide more value and mobility options to its passengers, TAAG will increase weekly flight frequencies from Luanda to high-traffic international destinations, namely Lisbon, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Maputo", the company announced in a statement sent to the Lusa agency.

From the 15th of June, flights to Lisbon, which until now were seven a week, will increase to 12 a week, with two daily flights on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and one single flight on Tuesday and Sunday.

The company will also have, from June 30th, two weekly connections to Porto, with a stopover in Madrid, on Thursday and Sunday.

"The Luanda-Madrid section will be operated by TAAG and the Madrid-Porto section will be operated by the Iberia airline, in light of the protocol signed with TAAG", underlines the company.

The flag carrier will also increase the frequency of flights between Luanda and Maputo, from three to four weekly connections, with departures on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

For South Africa, TAAG will have daily flights between Luanda and Johannesburg from the 6th of June and on the first day of the next month it will add a weekly flight to Cape Town, which will now have five departures a week.

The company also adds a weekly flight to its domestic flight offer, with an increase, as of June 3, 2022, in connections to Ondjiva, in Cunene province.

TAAG – Angola Airlines – was founded in 1938 and is headquartered in Luanda, currently offering 14 domestic destinations and 10 international destinations.

The airline suspended flights to Porto in March 2020 due to the increase, at the beginning of the pandemic, in the number of cases of covid-19.

Flights to Lisbon had resumed in March 2021, after being interrupted in January due to the emergence of new strains of the covid-19 virus.
