Federation agrees with FIBA to build an elite NBA training ground in the country

The 'Elite Training Camps', known around the world as launching pads for several young basketball players will now be able to arrive in Angola. The information was provided by the president of the Angolan Basketball Federation (FAB), Moniz Silva.

The announcement came this Wednesday, the day the sport completed 92 years of existence in the country. According to the FAB official, an elite NBA training ground will be built in Angola, possibly later this year. For this, he explained, the institution has maintained contacts with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and other institutions.

The official - who did not specify whether the training center will be in Luanda or in another province - said that the idea of ​​creating spaces for the training of young basketball players on the African continent came from Angola, during the Champions League that took place at the Pavilion from Kilmaba. However, the first academy was eventually implemented in Senegal.

However, NBA Academy Africa officials expressed interest in Angola's participation in the project. This project that the Government should support.

Speaking of the state of the sport in the country, the official stated that more support was needed, especially in the provinces, as well as sponsorship. He also considered indispensable, in the PIIM projects, the construction of sports courts in the centralities, as a way of encouraging young people to practice basketball.
