João Lourenço's candidacy was approved at the 2nd Ordinary Session of the committee. According to the final communiqué of the meeting, guided by the President and also party leader, resolutions on the participation of the MPLA in this year's general elections were also approved.
According to the note, made available on the MPLA's Facebook page, the organ also appreciated the "Electoral Marketing Plan, the Main Lines of Force of Political Speeches and the Organization of Political Acts in the Pre-Campaign and Electoral Campaign Phase, having recommended their rigorous implementation to ensure the success of the process".
It was also informed about the unofficial electoral registration and about the state of preparation of the electoral process at the party level, having shown its total availability "to materialize all actions that lead the MPLA and its leader (...) to an expressive victory in the general elections of August 2022", adds the note.
The committee also gave the 'green light' to the Balance Report of the VII Ordinary Congress – which took place between 9 and 11 December of last year –, in which João Lourenço was re-elected as leader of the MPLA, with 98.04 percent of the votes.
The appointment of Manuel Fernando Correia Victor "Nelo Victor" for the position of Director of Information and Propaganda of the Central Committee was also approved at the session.
According to the note, the committee also scrutinized the resolutions on the interruption of the mandates of Yara Gracinda de Carvalho and Maria da Assunção Pacavira, indicated "for the exercise of functions incompatible with party activity, having been replaced" by Esperança Elga Pena and Osvaldo António José Caculo.
