According to figures released this Friday, among the 2965 delegates to the VIII Congress of the MPLA, the ruling party in Angola, 2662 bulletins were validated, 2610 of which with votes in favour.
There were also 33 votes against, 13 abstentions, four null votes and two blank votes, in a secret ballot.
The results were presented this Friday by the coordinator of the electoral commission, Francisco Queirós, also minister of Justice, on the last day of the congress and effusively greeted at a Conference Center in Belas "dressed" in red and yellow, with balloon waves, whistles and shouts of "JLO", and some booing against votes.
João Lourenço, who is also the chief executive, was the only candidate approved for the congress, with the candidate António Venâncio not being accepted.
The President entered the Conference Center in Belas at 5:30 pm, where the conclave is taking place, for the closing solemn session, accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço.
The electoral commission considered that the electoral process took place in accordance with the party's statutes and regulations and in a fair and transparent manner, stressed Francisco Queirós.
During this Friday's journey, the names for the Central Committee were also approved.
With 2655 voting delegates, 2644 votes were considered valid, of which 2466 were in favour, 97 against and 40 abstentions.
The new Central Committee thus comes out younger, with a proposal of 35 percent of young people, aged between 18 and 35 years.
The MPLA congress ends this Saturday, with a mass event to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the party, to be held at the 11 de Novembro national stadium.
