Lobito Refinery project analyzed by Sonangol and partners

The Lobito Refinery project was under analysis. The flagship oil company and its partners met on Monday to examine the project, at a meeting that took place in Lobito and served to mark the start of engineering, procurement and construction activities at the refinery.

According to Joaquim Fernandes, director of Sonangol, one of the purposes of the meeting concerned the relaunch of the project: "One of the goals of this meeting is to relaunch the Lobito Refinery project, which is one of the four axes of the refining sector, and has, in this new phase, OEC and DAR, as partners in the construction and inspection", he said, quoted by Angop.

The official also took the opportunity to highlight the main objectives and the social impact of the structure.

A history of the work already carried out was exposed at the meeting. In addition, the stakeholders also visited the areas established as areas of interest for the project, highlighting the administrative complex and the maritime terminal, writes Angop.

The meeting continued on Tuesday, focusing on technical meetings between the state oil company and its partners to examine the work proposal and budget for the project.

In addition to Joaquim Fernandes, Joaquim Kiteculo, chairman of the Executive Committee of Sonangol, Evaristo Mário, administrator of Lobito and senior staff of the Refining and Petrochemicals Business Unit also attended the meeting, writes Angop.

The aforementioned refinery is being built in Lobito and will be able to process around 200,000 barrels of oil daily.
