EMIS alerts to the occurrence of scams in Multicaixa Express

EMIS denounced, this Tuesday, the occurrence of scams in the Multicaixa Express service (MCX Express). According to the company's alert, the scams consist of phone calls, sending messages and requests to fill out forms on fake websites.

:

"EMIS, as Multicaixa Network Manager, informs that scams involving the MCX Express channel continue to occur, consisting of telephone calls, sending messages and requesting to fill in forms on false pages on the Internet, which use the colors and logos of the MCX Express, to deceive with supposed aids to the customers", reads a statement from the company.

The statement recalls that neither EMIS nor the banks "at any time" call customers asking for "the provision of personal data and security codes".

For this reason, the company draws attention to users of this service, advising them to "never provide personal data, PINs and validation codes, by phone, message or by filling in forms, to avoid being victims of scams, the consequence of which is the indiscriminate withdrawal of funds from their bank accounts".

The company reinforces that the information pages of the Multicaixa network and the banks on social networks are never used to request personal data, stressing that the PIN "is personal and non-transferable" and that "it must not be provided to third parties, even if they identify themselves as account managers, employees of banks or EMIS".

The challenge remains to raise the awareness of MCX Express users, the company adds, explaining that despite the warnings that personal codes are not shared, inexplicably customers "end up handing them over to strangers, unfortunately collaborating with this, for the carrying out frauds against you".

EMIS also emphasizes that MCX Express is "extremely safe", since it "complies with the best international practices" and that users just do not "get carried away by false and/or tempting offers", avoiding the occurrence of scams.

"Any need they have, they should only contact their bank or the support service of the Multicaixa network using only the contacts registered on the back of the Multicaixa cards", concludes the company.
