According to Correio da Manhã on Monday, May 3, the seizure of bank accounts in Portugal of Mário Leite da Silva, Paula Oliveira and Sarju Raikundalia came in response to a letter rogatory sent by the Angolan authorities to Portugal.

According to the Portuguese daily, cited by Eco, the letter from Angolan justice, sent to Portugal in January of last year, asked the Portuguese authorities to freeze the assets in Portugal of Isabel dos Santos and her three friends to the value of 1.15 billion euros.

The seizure was decreed by the Central Court of Criminal Instruction (TCIC). According to Correio da Manhã, the Portuguese court seized the accounts in which Isabel dos Santos, Mário Leite da Silva, Paula Oliveira and Sarju Raikundalia appear as holders, co-holders, proxies or authorizers.

Along with the bank accounts, term deposits, financial applications and securities dossiers associated with these investments were also seized.

According to Correio da Manhã, are concerned two processes in which the daughter of José Eduardo dos Santos is accused of the crimes of embezzlement, abuse of power, economic participation in business and money laundering.
