UNITA militants accuse Adalberto Costa Júnior of embezzling 400 million kwanzas from the party

A group of UNITA militants, composed of about 50 members, some of them from the leadership in Cacuaco, accused the party leader, Adalberto Costa Júnior, of diverting about 400 million kwanzas from the party coffers to buy a luxury house in Portugal.

According to Domingos Pedro, Municipal Secretary for Mobilization of UNITA in Cacuaco, Adalberto Costa Júnior has diverted money from an account he controls and bought a luxury house in Portugal, leaving grassroots organizations without working conditions.

The official, who was speaking this Thursday at a press conference, made several criticisms to the party leader, blaming him for persecuting the militants who did not support him during the congress of his election as president.

Cited by Angop, Domingos Pedro also accused the president of UNITA of violating the ideologies of the party and asked for clarification about a possible agreement between Adalberto Costa Júnior and the sons of the former President, José Eduardo dos Santos.

Domingos Pedro and Cândido Moisés, secretary for Mobilization of the headquarters district of Cacuaco, decided to put their positions at the disposal.

They also admitted that it is urgent to hold an extraordinary congress to remove the current president of the party and thus be able to elect a "national and patriotic".

They also took the opportunity to appeal to UNITA's jurisdictional council to evaluate the leadership of the current president and indicate a substitute capable of responding to the country's challenges.
