Russia invests over 1 billion dollars in construction of fertilizer factory in Angola

Russia's ambassador to Angola, Vladimir Tararov, said Thursday that his country will move forward with an investment of more than US$1 billion to build a fertilizer factory in Angola.

:

"Our Russian company has signed a contract with the Angolan side on the construction of a fertilizer production plant," the ambassador revealed.

Speaking to Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA), the diplomat explained that it was agreed to build a factory "on the basis of phosphates that are extracted from the soil of Angola."

Vladimir Tararov also indicated that the factory will cost over a billion dollars, adding that he hopes that this investment will be "viable" and "advantageous for both parties."

In turn, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Victor Fernandes, who met with Vladimir Tararov, recognized Russia's economic potential and admitted that it can help Angola boost its economy.

"They have cutting-edge industry, they also have cutting-edge technology and it is the largest producer of wheat which is one of the main" raw materials that "we use to make wheat flour," he said, adding that that country has a lot to give to Angola.

The minister said, quoted by RNA, that cooperation between the two countries is "on the right track," giving as an example the fact that several Angolans do "training in the Russian federation."

"The ambassador said that every year, 134 scholarship holders receive free of charge the possibility to study with the support of the government of the Russian federation. The cooperation is on the right track," concluded Victor Fernandes.
