The work was written by journalist Silva Candembo, with a preface by the president of the club, Tomás Faria. Returning to the club's date of birth - January 14, 1980 - the author says that “it was very difficult to compose the details of the four-decade history of Petro, re-known in Angola and on the African continent.
In a note cited by Jornal de Angola, Silva Candembo mentions that the narrative is supported by photographic memory, although some cases lack “numerical details and names that embodied important chapters in this story”.
As for the testimony of the president, Tomás Faria, he states that “in addition to celebrating the 40 years of the club's rich existence, this volume features a perennial tribute to all those who contributed, for the greatness that is universally recognized today” .
The club's vice president, Amaral Aleixo, said that, since it was not possible to physically launch the work on the 19th of April, taking into account the pandemic covid-19, it will then be launched virtually this Friday.
"The 15th of May is equally important for the history of the club, since it was on that day, at 'Girabola'88', that Petro-Atlético de Luanda scored the fastest goal in the history of the competition," he told Jornal de Angola , justifying the choice of this day.
