In a statement sent to VerAngola, BP explains that this initiative "aims to flatten the curve of the coronavirus spread and help save lives.
The campaign, named #MakeYourMask, was thought up by BP and Castrol Africa officials "who found that in some regions of the continent it is impossible to maintain social distance.
According to Richard Heron, BP's Chief Medical Officer, "BP and Castrol Africa employees are convinced that creating and disseminating simple educational materials about creating and wearing face masks, while reminding people of the importance of frequent hand washing and social withdrawal, can make a difference. These efforts are especially relevant to saving lives in places with challenges such as overpopulation, poverty and overburdened health systems".
The goal is simple: create a mask in just five steps. Then, if you want, you can share the achievement on social networks "using the hashtag #MakeYourMask.
