According to a Facebook publication by the Presidency of the Republic, "the first lady of the Republic leads the continental initiative program 'Born Free to Shine', which aims to stimulate the rates of vertical transmission cuts (birth without the HIV virus from HIV-positive mothers)".

The meeting served to talk about "the articulation of the fight against covid-19 and the protection of the population fringes at risk such as pregnant women", indicates the same publication.

Carolina Cerqueira, quoted by Angop, said at the end of the meeting that the initiative 'Born Free to Shine' is being implemented in Luanda, Cunene, Cuanza Sul, Lunda Sul, Huambo, Moxico, Huíla and Bié.

The minister stressed that the meeting also served to convey to the first lady what are "the programs, which we are carrying out, of assistance and monitoring of the populations".

The head of the Social Area also made it known that the campaign is giving priority to pregnant women so that they can take the covid-19 test first.

The campaign was launched two years ago by Ana Dias Lourenço, with the aim of reducing, by next year, the rate of transmission of HIV from mother to child, from 26 to 14 per cent.
