Quoted by Angop, André Mendes de Carvalho made it known that the meeting with João Lourenço took place at the request of the President himself.
At the meeting, he went on to talk about the need to invest in national producers so that the country can have the necessary food to become self-sufficient.
The political leader also said that he suggested some changes: for example the allocation of engines to fishermen so that fishing capacity increases and also the delivery of ploughs and oxen to producers so that food production grows.
André Mendes de Carvalho also regretted that the plans on the farms had been a fiasco, despite the large amount of money invested.
He also advocated holding local elections as soon as possible.
Benedito Daniel, from PRS, discussed with the head of state the impacts of covid-19 in the country and what would be the most appropriate measures to reduce the negative consequences.
The PRS leader said that the government should give priority to food production. It must also ensure that the population has access to water and electricity, he said.
