João Lourenço in videoconference with African leaders to "exchange experiences on the pandemic

The President of the Republic met this Friday morning, by videoconference, with other heads of state of the southern region of Africa to talk about the methods adopted by the various countries to fight against covid-19.

According to the Presidency of the Republic, the idea of "exchanging experiences on the pandemic and the way it is faced in southern Africa" was from the President of South Africa and the African Union, Cyril Ramaphosa.

In addition to combating the pandemic, the leaders also spoke about "the cooperation of their countries in this fight and what can be done in the post-covid" phase, a phase that was compared to a "period of reconstruction after a war".

Besides João Lourenço, the presidents of South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, the Prime Minister of Lesotho and the King of Eswatini were present at the online meeting.
