The position was made known through a note released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX), after a meeting, in Luanda, of a multisectoral government delegation and representatives of parents and guardians of Angolan students residing in Hubei province.
According to the document, those in charge of education asked the Government to reinforce financial support to students “in view of the high cost of living in that Asian country, as a result of the pandemic”.
For its part, the Multisectoral Commission provided information on the follow-up given to students, including updating the data, "in order to ensure greater efficiency in support".
"The Multisectoral Commission reaffirmed the Government's commitment to continue to work with the diplomatic and consular representations of the Republic of Angola in China, as well as with the authorities of that country", highlights the note from MIREX.
The government and the guardians "will maintain permanent contact, as long as this health crisis lasts and it becomes necessary to apply the measures resulting from it".
In Wuhan, the epicenter of the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus, around 40 Angolan students were at the beginning of the crisis, when the city was quarantined, on January 23, with prohibited entrances and exits.
