According to Wilson Baptista, in addition to flooded streets and flooding, which limit circulation, there is "the death of a 14-year-old girl in the municipality of Samba, in the Morro da Luz neighborhood, due to the collapse of the wall of the house where she was sleeping".
Wilson Baptista, speaking to Angolan Public Television (TPA), said that a yellow alert had been issued by the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics for some provinces, particularly in the north of the country, with Luanda being the region that recorded the heaviest rainfall during the early hours of the morning.
The fire department spokesman asked citizens not to move due to impassable roads, "a self-protection measure" until flood levels reduce and there are "safe conditions for adequate road circulation".
"Our appeal is for [people] to remain alert, especially children, to keep them indoors, and to turn off the power in areas where the electrical installation is not the most suitable. Even if the rain stops, the walls will still be damp and this is a sufficient condition for the conduction of electrical current, but there is a risk of electrocution," he warned.
