Tanzanian President leaves Angola after last day marked by visit to Luanda Refinery

The President of Tanzania concluded her official visit to Angola this Wednesday. The last day of his journey through Angolan lands was marked by a visit to the Luanda Refinery, after which he headed to the Presidential Palace for the formal farewell procedures.

"The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suhulu Hassan, has now left Luanda and returned to Dar-Es-Salaam, having completed her state visit to Angola", announced the Presidency of the Republic, in a note to which VerAngola had access.

This Wednesday morning, "after completing the last stage of the official program of her mission (visit to the Luanda Refinery), the Tanzanian head of state returned to the Presidential Palace for the formal farewell procedures."

"In Cidade Alta, he held a final meeting with President João Lourenço and received military honors, before heading to the airport," the Presidency's note also informs.

After Samia Suhulu Hassan's visit to the Luanda Refinery, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, took the opportunity to express the country's interest in attracting investments from Tanzania for the Lobito Refinery, under construction in Benguela.

According to the government official, Sonangol is financing the project in its entirety, but they are "looking for partners and investment".

"The project is underway and still 100 percent financed by Sonangol, but we are looking for partners and investment," he said, in statements to the press, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

The President of Tanzania arrived in Angola on Monday, having completed an intense work schedule, which included a visit to the Dr. António Agostinho Neto Memorial, a meeting with the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, among others.

On Tuesday, it was also announced that the Tanzanian president is expected to return to Angola in November for the inauguration of the future Julius Nyerere Hospital.
