João Lourenço's visit to Tanzania is scheduled for July 2026, said Samia Hassan Suluhu, in statements to the press, at the end of her presence at the Presidential Palace in Cidade Alta.
"In her statement to the press, President Samia Hassan announced that her Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, will make an official visit to the United Republic of Tanzania in July next year," reads a statement from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access.
The President of Tanzania also took the opportunity to "reaffirm her country's genuine interest in strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation with Angola, announcing, among other initiatives in this regard, the facilitation of mobility, eliminating the requirement for visas for Angolan citizens who wish to travel to Tanzania".
In turn, João Lourenço highlighted the "historical importance of relations between the Angolan and Tanzanian peoples, recalling that MPLA guerrillas who fought against the colonial army on the path to Independence were trained and prepared on Tanzanian soil".
On the occasion, a new trip by the Tanzanian President to Angola was also announced, scheduled for November this year.
"João Lourenço highlighted the role and action of President Julius Nyerere, whose name – announced today [Tuesday] – will be given to a large hospital unit to be inaugurated next November. The Tanzanian president will come to Angola specifically for the inauguration ceremony of the future Julius Nyerere Hospital", the note reads.
Samia Hassan Suluhu arrived in Angola this Monday for a 72-hour visit.
As part of her visit, the Tanzanian head of state also visited the Dr. António Agostinho Neto Memorial on Tuesday, where she paid tribute to the country's first President of the Republic.
