According to the group's regional director, Ahmed Amin, the company will continue "operating in vital sectors in Angola, such as energy and construction, generating jobs, transferring knowledge and strengthening infrastructure".
Speaking to Angop, as part of João Lourenço's visit to Egypt, the director highlighted his commitment to Angola's sustainable development goals.
"In Angola, we are working on integrated solutions to expand the transmission network, improve system reliability and reduce energy losses, using advanced technologies and local capacity," said Ahmed Amin, who, together with other Egyptian businessmen, will be present at a direct meeting with João Lourenço, scheduled for this Wednesday.
Regarding the intention to install smart meters, the official stated that they have made considerable progress in preparing the Smart Metering project, in collaboration with the Angolan authorities.
On the other hand, it also pointed out that Angola has vast potential to develop clean energy, with the company supporting Angola's energy transition, through projects focused mainly on solar energy and rural electrification, writes Angop.
According to the regional director, the company operates in provinces such as Cabinda, Huambo, Luanda and Malanje, in collaboration with local authorities and the private sector, and investments have reached one trillion dollars since last year.
In addition to the energy sector, the company also has its eyes on the digital economy.
"In addition to energy, we want to support Angola in building a resilient digital economy, promoting innovation, skills development and greater connectivity," said the executive, adding that they are equally interested in investing in telecommunications and digital infrastructure.
Present in more than a hundred countries, the group is also planning to be present in Angola at the fifth edition of the Angola International Information and Communication Technologies Forum (Angotic), which will take place in June and which, according to Ahmed Amin, is an excellent opportunity to showcase innovations.
It is worth mentioning that Angola and Egypt will sign, this Tuesday, an agreement in the Public Works sector. According to Jornal de Angola, the signing of the aforementioned agreement will be witnessed by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
According to a note from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access, the head of state "arrived in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Monday afternoon for an official visit", which begins this Tuesday.
"The Head of State is accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço", says the note, which adds that the "presidential delegation includes several ministers and members of the Office of the President of the Republic".
The visit will last until Wednesday afternoon, and "will allow the signing of agreements in at least two areas of cooperation".
