"Strengthening the notary for the reliability and legal security of documents in the CPLP" is the theme of the event that will take place on Tuesday in one of the hotels in the capital of São Tomé, starting at 09:00 am local time (another one in Angola).

According to the Minister of Justice, Public Administration and Human Rights of São Tomé and Príncipe, the theme of the meeting was proposed by São Tomé, "in view of the evolution of society, the need to create a legal context where contracts and businesses can develop in a reliable and safe way" and the "increase in the movement and circulation of people within the CPLP".

Ilza Amado Vaz said that it is in this sense that the Ministers of Justice will look at the regulatory framework and the organization of the system of services and notaries in Portuguese speaking to decide the best form of collaboration so that "documents at CPLP level can circulate in a safe, viable and fast".

"Integration requires that our citizens have some documents, which have to be validated by the registry and notaries. Personal lives, professions and business achievements depend on these documents", highlighted the São Tomé government official, who accompanied her counterparts in a courtesy meeting with São Tomé President Carlos Vila Nova.

According to the organization of the event, the ministers of Justice of Angola, Marcy Cláudio Lopes, the minister of Justice of Cape Verde, Joana Gomes Rosa Amado, of Guinea-Bissau, Maria do Céu Silva Monteiro, of Mozambique, Helena Mateus Kida and the Minister of Justice of Timor-Leste, Sérgio de Jesus Fernandes da Costa Hornai.

Brazil is represented by the Secretary of State and Portugal by the Ambassador accredited in São Tomé and Príncipe.

The meeting will also be attended by the executive secretary of the CPLP, ambassador Zacarias da Costa, the secretary general of the Legal and Judicial Cooperation Network of Portuguese Speaking Countries, representative of the LEGISPALOP + Timor Leste Project, the president of the Notaries of the Islands Canaries.

São Tomé and Príncipe held the rotating presidency of the CPLP last year under the theme "Youth and Sustainability", and will assume on Tuesday the presidency of the Conference of Ministers of Justice of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CMJPLOP) until then chaired by Angola.
