Edilson Paca: the young man who left Angola for the USA to be a pilot and became a trader

Born and raised in Angola, Edilson Paca packed his bags at the age of 18 and headed for the United States of America (USA). His dream was to be a pilot, but after discovering the world of investing in the stock exchange, he started to see trading as the way forward, conquering his financial independence at just over 20 years old.

:

"I was born and lived in Angola until I was 18 years old, I am currently 23 years old. I am a student in the United States of America", began by telling Edilson Paca, in an interview with VerAngola.

According to the young man, his curiosity for the universe of investing in the stock market arrived at the age of 19, after having seen a video on the subject on Youtube. Finding it interesting that someone "be successful so young", Edilson Paca decided to roll up his sleeves and contact the person in the video.

"When I was 19 I saw this video 'Talking to a 23-year-old millionaire Trader' on Youtube! I found it very interesting for someone to be successful so young and I got in touch with the person and we became known", explains the young man, in statements to VerAngola.

And financial independence came shortly afterwards: at just 21 years old, the Angolan saw his first big profit happen. "I was 21 years old, I made over 156k points/pips trading gold in 2020," he said.

"It was a great feeling of achievement, I worked hard to learn because it's not an easy thing," he added.

With that profit came the opportunity to move into his dream apartment: "I moved into my dream luxury apartment, I always wanted to live here, but at the time it was a little expensive for me."

The young man also bet on his entrepreneurial streak, having created his own company, called 'Vertex Epitome', which helps teach traders how to operate in the market.

"I created Vertex, together with Carlos. Élison, Sidney and Fábio are traders and analysts, recently one of our top students, Hélder Fernandes, became a trader and analyst at Vertex Epitome", he said.

"We teach traders how to really operate in the market. There are many people who claim to be a trader and make profits in the market, but they do not have proof or verified results. At Vertex Epitome, we show how we do this through real examples, not cheap words", he added.

He also said that they have "long-term goals of making Vertex Epitome an investment firm", however, he said that "is for the future".

In terms of investments, he indicated that he currently invests more in "trading Dow Jones Futures and Gold", making, on average, a five-figure profit. "Currently I trade more Dow Jones Futures (US30) and Gold (XAUUSD). On average, I make five figures (10,000 dollars), if I have great opportunities in the market I can do even more", he said.

With trading as his full-time occupation, the young man says he has given up on his dream of flying planes.

"Yes, currently I only live on trading", he indicated, adding: "To be honest, I gave up on the dream. I like planes and pilots are well paid, but I am happy with trading".

Edilson Paca also told VerAngola that he is thinking of returning to his country, with the aim of investing. "Yes to investing, I think Angola needs more entrepreneurs and innovation. I don't think it would be 'fair' for someone with the skills I managed to develop not to do anything for the country of origin", he considered.

In terms of upcoming projects, the young man says he intends to "create an investment firm/hedge fund, and other projects that are already being carried out in Angola such as a restaurant, hotel, farm, food processing and other projects" that he has in mind.

Asked about what he thinks is fundamental to being a trader, Edilson Paca says that it is a laborious process, requiring "developing discipline, patience, adaptability, mental resistance, independence and long-term thinking".

"Day Trading refers to the buying and selling of securities, stocks, commodities, stock indices, etc. Then selling them on the same day with the aim of making a profit. At the end of the market day, a day trader will have closed all your positions, any gains or losses," he explains, adding that "success in trading often requires a lot of hard work to develop the necessary skills."

"Many traders have some natural traits to start with, but will have to work on others. What I think is essential for a successful trader is to develop discipline, patience, adaptability, mental toughness, independence and long-term thinking. Trading is a job. very mental," he added.
