Abel Chivukuvuku ensures that PRA-JA Servir Angola becomes legal this year

The general coordinator of the political project PRA-JA Servir Angola considered this Thursday that "all the conditions and precepts to be legalized" had been met, later this year, in view of the crisis facing the Angolan justice system.

This Thursday, Abel Chivukuvuku chaired the first extraordinary meeting of the provisional steering committee of the political project Partido do Renascimento Angolano-Juntos por Angola (PRA-JA) Serving Angola, which had the theme "Legalize the PRA-JA, revitalize and grow".

Speaking to the press, at the end of the opening ceremony of the meeting, Abel Chivukuvuku, who since 2019 has been fighting for the legalization of this political project, guaranteed that they have "all the conditions and precepts to be legalized".

"On the other hand, the fact that there is a crisis in justice has uncovered the problems that we said, that justice is politicized, [with] that I suppose they will be more careful", said Abel Chivukuvuku, stressing that they will prosecute state institutions civilly and criminally that will have contributed to the legalization lead of PRA-JA Servir Angola.

According to Abel Chivukuvuku, the lawyers are carrying out a series of eavesdropping, with the first intention being to prosecute the Ministry of Territorial Administration and State Reform and the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.

"Because we went to get the documents, the signatures and the residence certificates from the municipal administrations. We receive the documents from the municipal administrations and you pay and we go with these documents to the court, which is also from the State, and it says that those documents are not valid, so the municipal administrations gave us the wrong documents and the body that oversees municipal administrations is the Ministry of Territorial Administration", he said.

The politician pointed out that the signatures, required by law for the legalization of a party, were recognized in the notaries, protected by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.

"It is true that we had some eminent jurists from the state apparatus, who suggested that the best thing was to sue the head of state, because he is the holder of executive power, because ministries have no responsibility, they are only auxiliary. lawyers are seeing all this, there is another theory of suing the very administrations that gave us documents that they signed illegally", he added.

According to Abel Chivukuvuku, everything is structured for the process to be closed until the end of this year, remembering that the next general elections will take place in 2027 and will have enough time.

"I don't see any other way that the system itself will do to stop us, I don't see it", he underlined.

In his speech at the opening of the meeting, Abel Chivukuvuku said that there were attempts "by all means and in all ways to liquidate the PRA-JA, [but] it was not possible".

"[The PRA-JA] represents a patriotic feeling, it represents the will to serve our citizens, it represents the vision of Angola that we want, but it also represents a lot of faith and a lot of hope, that's why we continue the walk", he stressed.

Abel Chivukuvuku highlighted the integration into the United Patriotic Front (FPU) political platform, formed with the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), the Democratic Bloc and members of civil society, who thus participated in the 2022 general elections.

Regarding the FPU, the politician said that there was enough vision, courage, the need for humility "for each one to put themselves a little low, because together" they are "more than alone", admitting that not everything "was a bed of roses" .

"We didn't always have unanimity, even within the PRA-JA, there were pitfalls, there was everything, we thought it was easy? It's not true! But the homeland demanded this sacrifice from everyone and we all did it and the path will continue, it's not worth the effort. It's a shame to have the illusion that it's going to be easy, because now you've seen that these together are very strong, the pitfalls are going to be worse", he underlined.

At the meeting were representatives of UNITA and the Democratic Block, who expressed solidarity and support for the legalization of the political project of the vice-coordinator of the FPU, Abel Chivukuvuku, who was once a member and leader of the largest opposition party, between 1974 and 2012, the year in which who was leader of the Convergência Ampla de Salvação de Angola–Electoral Coalition (CASA-CE), until 2019, when he was removed due to disagreement between the members.

The Constitutional Court (TC) definitively ruled out the legalization of PRA-JA Servir Angola, at the end of 2020, after several negative responses and appeals filed by the political party's installation commission.

At issue would be doubts regarding the more than 30,000 signatures that the party collected with a view to its legalization, and according to the law, it is necessary to collect the signatures of at least 7,500 citizens duly recognized by the administration.

In the judgment in which it rejected the extraordinary appeal presented by the PRA-JA for "not remedying shortcomings" and presenting "ambiguous allegations", the Constitutional Court referred the possible legalization of this party to the next four years.

"In the case of processes of political parties subscribed by a group of citizens, only four years after the date of rejection of the accreditation process for the registration of a political party or of the judgment confirming it, you have the possibility of requesting the registration of a new party project", indicated the TC.
