Leaving a meeting with the head of state, Fernando Medina explained that the two rulers addressed various topics of the economic and financial relationship, in particular "the financing of the work in the town of Muxima", which includes restoration of part of the town's basilica, referred.

According to Fernando Medina, this is a project “which is of great importance, certainly for Angola, but also for all believers throughout the world”.

“It is a very important site that, thanks to this work between Angola and with the support of Portugal, is starting to move, but now it has gained the conditions for its viability for its materialization”, stressed Fernando Medina, who on Tuesday went to the village of Muxima to visit the construction site.

At the audience, which he considered "very important, very frank and very productive", the investment opportunities defined by the Angolan State were also addressed, for the diversification of Angola's productive economic base, the reinforcement of fundamental infrastructures.

“And also regarding human capital, how Portugal can contribute, through its companies, its financial instruments, so that these projects are at the service of the populations more quickly”, he stressed.

According to Fernando Medina, Portugal also conveyed to the head of state that the credit line had been extended from 1.5 billion euros to 2 billion euros in order to be able to support more investment projects to be carried out here in Angola.

The holder of the Portuguese Finance portfolio stressed that this line of financing is permanent, to finance projects defined by the State, underlining that the conditions for the return of financing result from the understanding between the Angolan State and the financing banks.

“Each operation has its financing consortium, it could be Caixa Geral de Depósitos, it could be a consortium of other banks, and these conditions are defined in these specific contracts. As a rule, until now, a ten-year term of repayment conditions has been defined, ”he said.

The Portuguese official said that he is evaluating with his counterpart the possibility of extending the term for what international rules dictate, which allow for up to 15 years, “better supporting the conditions of repayment by the Angolan State of these financings” .

This Wednesday, Fernando Medina's visit program also includes meetings with the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Manuel Nunes Júnior, and with the Minister of Economy and Planning, Mário Caetano, with his return to Portugal scheduled for the morning of Thursday.
