Coach removes Clinton da Mata and makes ultimatum to Gelson Dala

The coach of the national football team, the Portuguese Pedro Gonçalves, definitively excluded the right-back Clinton da Mata from the 'black sables', due to the constant absences without convincing reasons on the part of the player.

The side of Club Brugge, from the Belgian League, failed again, without justification, to call for the double confrontation with the counterparts of Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea, in Rio Maior, in March, after having assured the coach that he would join to the Angolan group.

"He was the one who called me to say he was available to serve the national team. But, at a given moment, he didn't answer the calls. We won't count on him anymore", said Pedro Gonçalves.

On the other hand, the Angola coach made an ultimatum for the same reasons to Gelson Dala, a winger who is on loan from Rio Ave to the Qataris of Al-Wakrah.

"As for Gelson Dala, he must commit to the country. For the reasons that we have been noticing, it leads me to believe that he is not interested in representing the Angolan national team", he said.

Pedro Gonçalves also guaranteed that, administratively, he has already started to prepare the qualifiers for access to the next edition of the African Cup of Nations (CAN), which will be played in 2023, in Ivory Coast.

Angola is in the qualifying group E for CAN2023, along with Ghana, the Central African Republic and Madagascar.
