The Portuguese coach at the service of Petro de Luanda, Alexandre Santos, told Lusa that he wants to make history, starting with winning over Girabola, who leads with 58 points, with seven games to play.

The coach also mentioned that the season has been very positive, and that his team has already achieved the best record ever in the national football championship.

"It has been very positive, we have achieved, so far, a record of victories, points, goals scored, one of Girabola's best ever, we can even, who knows, if we manage to make the last seven games level of what we have done so far, to break the record for points and goals scored, I think it would be a historic and remarkable achievement, but, nevertheless, we still have very difficult games", he said.

In the opinion of Alexandre Santos, since he took charge of Petro de Luanda, the team has evolved, and shows a more flashy football, compared to the past.

"It has been a team that has shown a little different football compared to the last few years, a football that is more in control, more of possession and maintains the Angolan records and culture of an attractive football", he explained.

As for Saturday's game, in Luanda, against Mamelodi Sundowns, from South Africa, referring to the first leg of the quarter-finals of the African Champion Clubs' League, the Portuguese coach said that the Angolans of Petro de Luanda are prepared for the confrontation. , but admits that his team is inexperienced, compared to the opponent.

"Regardless of whether we were first or second in the group stage, we already knew that we would play with very strong teams. We got Mamelodi Sundowns, a team that has the ambition to win the African Champion Clubs' League, has already been African champions in 2016 , but we also have our ambitions. We are prepared for the game, although our team is inexperienced, compared to the opponent", he said.

Regarding the team's performance in the African Champion Clubs' League, Alexandre Santos said it was very positive.

"The performance in the African League is very positive, if we look at the goals scored and conceded there is an approximation, due to the last game, in which we conceded five goals. In five games in the group stage, we conceded only three and scored nine, and we had one of the best scorers, Tiago Azulão. I remember that in the last three editions, our team only scored one point and one goal, so with the numbers we have reached so far, with 11 points, nine goals scored, we have surpassed a 'giant ' of African football, like Zamalek, and for us to be in second position, fighting for the leadership of the group with Wydad, is very positive," he said.

According to the Portuguese coach, the work at the Angolan club level has been very positive at all levels.

"It has been very positive at all levels, the structure of the club, all the 'staff' with whom I have worked, it has been an exceptional job, I have received great support, we have very interesting conditions, we have a mix of Angolan and Portuguese coaches. and we have been working very well. I am very satisfied with the people and with the whole support structure", he concluded.

In Girabola, Petro de Luanda leads, with 58 points, with seven games to go, and in the African Champions Clubs League they are in the quarter finals, as a result of the second place achieved in the group stage, with 11 points, behind leader Wydad from Casablanca, from Morocco, who finished with 15.
