Petro will try to go further in the competition playing at home, at Estádio 11 de Novembro, in Luanda.
The video referee system will be implemented under the seal of the African Confederation of the sport (CAF) only at this stage of the continental competition. The objective is to more accurately assess the decisions of the refereeing team with regard to controversial moves or disciplinary punishments.
CAF started using VAR in 2018, in the Super Cup, in a match between Wydad Casablanca (Morocco) and TP Mazembe (DRC).
This year, during the CAN, which took place in Cameroon, the system was used throughout the competition.
The tool, explains Angop, allows four people to watch the match live, being in contact with the main referee, through a fiber optic radio system.
The members of this team will have more than thirty television cameras, through which they will be able to review plays and deal with three situations: goal validation/cancellation; possibility of a penalty or actions where a player could be penalized with a card or sending off. The VAR may also identify the offender in a foul in which the referee is not fully informed.
