Rains in Luanda “accelerate” progression of ravines and flood homes and institutions

The increase in the level of water in retention basins, the progression of ravines in some municipalities, flooded houses and flooded and impassable streets are for now the consequences of the intense rain that fell this Wednesday in Luanda.

:

According to the spokesman for the Luanda provincial command of the Civil Protection and Fire Service, Faustino Minguês, the municipalities most affected by the rains that started at dawn and ended in the early hours of the day were Viana, Cacuaco, Luanda, Kilamba Kiaxi and Talatona.

The authorities who continue to work on the statistical data, coming from the nine municipal civil protection commissions in Luanda, do not have the record of deaths so far.

"At this precise moment we also have the record of the progression of some ravines, most notably in the municipalities of Viana, Cacuaco and Luanda, in the urban district of Ngola Kiluanji", Minguês told Lusa.

The fall of some trees in several districts of Luanda is also part of the occurrences reported by the population to the municipal civil protection commissions, to the Integrated Center for Public Security and to the operating room of the Luanda provincial command of the Civil Protection and Fire Service.

In social networks, the consequences of the rains in Luanda are also reported, with videos showing the difficulties in the movement of people and vehicles, main and secondary roads flooded and public and private institutions submerged.
