Agreement between Angola and UAE will enable TAAG to fly directly to Abu Dhabi

Angola and the United Arab Emirates signed, this Wednesday, an agreement that may give TAAG wings to fly directly to Abu Dhabi. With this memorandum, the state-owned company will be able to start a direct air link to the capital of that Arab country.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Transport, cited by Jornal de Angola, the document aims to strengthen relations and also foster air links between these two countries.

The note explains that this agreement had been suspended for over a decade, having seen the light of day this Wednesday.

Cited by Jornal de Angola, the Minister of Transport, Ricardo Viegas de Abreu, noted the importance of signing this agreement, stressing that this "is a strategic instrument for the growth and sustainability of the Angolan civil aviation sector.

The holder of the Transport portfolio admitted that the application of this memorandum will help develop commercial and economic relations and strengthen the transport of people and goods between Angola and the United Arab Emirates.

"The other important aspects in the field of training, capacity building and exchange of experiences between the authorities of the two countries are planned and should be key pieces for the consolidation of the national aviation sector," advanced the note from the Ministry.

The agreement was initialed this Wednesday by Ricardo Viegas de Abreu and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Aviation Authority of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri.
