Adilson Rodrigues, director of production of Companhia de Bio-fuels de Angola (Biocom), announced that the company expects this year its sugar production to reach 120,000 tons. This year, according to Rodrigues, the company estimates an increase of around 2,000 tons, compared to last year.
Cited by Angop, Adilson Rodrigues explained that in 2020, in the last agricultural campaign, the company's production was fixed at 118,000 tons of sugar. For this year, Biocom expects production to be 120,000 tons, which according to the company's production director, represents about 40 percent of the country's needs.
Biocom also estimates for this year's agricultural campaign that 18,000 cubic meters of ethanol will be produced and about 63,446 megawatts of electricity generated from sugarcane.
Adilson Rodrigues revealed that the company is preparing 5500 hectares of sugar cane cultivation area, of which 2050 hectares are already planted.
Considered as the first company in the country to produce sugar, ethanol and electricity through biomass, Biocom is located in the Agro-Industrial Pole of Capanda, in the municipality of Cacuso, Malanje province.
