Ginga Tuta said that there are still people hospitalized under observation, with a tendency to recover.

The deputy administrator of the municipality of Viana said that the authorities have been present from the first moment, showing solidarity with the affected families.

"We were there, the survey was done, and almost all of them had already done the funerals, there were only two or three families left who had not yet done the funeral and did not have a date, but the administration presented the availability to support", informed Ginga Tuta.

The responsible stressed that they were informed of what was happening on Sunday by the residents' committee.

"When the residents' committee alerted us, they told us that people had been dying since Friday. Friday they had already died, on Saturday and Sunday we entered the field according to the information we were receiving on the subject," he said.

In statements to Lusa, the spokesman for the Criminal Investigation Service of Luanda, Fernando de Carvalho, confirmed that four people had died due to the ingestion of the beverage and three more were in a serious condition at the hospital.

Fernando de Carvalho stressed that the number of 11, which has been advanced by the Angolan press and was confirmed by the city administrator, is related to deaths that occurred in recent days, which family members have associated with this case.

"There is a person who lost a loved one and went to the individual who sold the drink, who confirmed having sold it, and to prove that there was nothing in the drink, he also drank it, and ended up dying", he pointed out.

According to Fernando de Carvalho, the autopsies will be done this Tuesday, awaiting the results that will confirm the cause of death.

The case that occurred in the neighborhood of Caop, in Viana, according to the Angolan public radio, involves a toxic mixture of drinks which was given the name of "bad luck caipirinha", composed of "boss's water" [a distilled craft drink, made of sugar and yeast], capassarinho [a fruit with hallucinogenic effect] and JET A1 fuel, for airplanes.

The SIC reported on Monday that three people have already been arrested, including the seller of the drink.

The coordinator of the Residents' Committee, António Costa, said that the drink causes symptoms such as headache, body aches, nausea, general malaise, difficulty walking, and loss of vision.
