Government receives 36 proposals for management of the Mulenvos landfill in Luanda

The Executive received 36 proposals from national and foreign companies for the management and enhancement of the Mulenvos landfill, in the province of Luanda.

According to the Secretary of State for Planning, Milton Reis, 26 national companies and 10 foreign companies applied for the international competition limited by prior qualification.

Milton Reis, quoted by Angop, said that for foreign companies, contact will be facilitated by the diplomatic representatives of their countries, with a view to holding virtual meetings with their representatives.

The public-private partnership concession project for the management of the Mulenvos landfill was approved by presidential order on March 24, and provides for the sorting and recovery of solid waste through recycling, sale of recycled products, composting, incineration. , biogas and energy production.

The capital, with more than eight million inhabitants, produces an annual average of 3.3 million tons of solid waste, according to a study carried out by the Ministry of Economy and Planning, which also points out that 45 percent of this waste production has potential for reuse as raw material for industry, 35 percent as fertilizer and the remaining 20 percent for energy production.

The Government estimates an investment of around US $ 70 million, for the refurbishment of the landfill, to transform it into a waste recovery center.
