Covid-19: Public services will now operate with half the staff

The public administrative services will work, from Thursday, April 29, only with half the staff. The measure is part of the review made by the government in view of the increase in cases of covid-19 in recent weeks.

"As of this Thursday, April 29, public administrative services will start operating with up to 50 percent of their face-to-face work force," the Executive indicated in a statement posted on its Facebook page.

According to the statement, this measure will remain in force until May 21, aiming to "prevent the contagion and spread of covid-19, given the substantial rise in positive cases and the existence of new strains of the SARS-COV-2 virus, which have been causing the death of many young people and children."

Adão de Almeida, Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, said that the revision of the prevention measures against covid-19 intends to help "reduce the circulation of citizens in certain closed places, where the risk of contagion tends to be greater.

The private sector and public companies that do not have administrative services will now operate with 75 percent of their work force "both in shift and telework regimes.

Commercial establishments will also start working with 75 percent of their employees and will close at 8pm. Markets and street vending, on the other hand, will close at 4 pm.

"Restaurants and similar establishments will remain open only until 9 pm and for home delivery services until 10 pm, and it is expressly forbidden to create and hold dance floors in these places," indicates the note.

Another of the prevention measures against covid-19 reviewed by the Government concerns the "prohibition of spectators in sports competitions.

The Executive also changed the "individual and leisure sports practice schedule, which can be held in the morning between 05:30 and 07:30, and at the end of the day between 17:00 and 19:30.

Cultural and leisure recreational activities, in general, can only be done until 9pm, and "until further notice, entertainment venues, such as discos and other parties in non-home spaces, remain closed."

Regarding funeral ceremonies, "the limit number of participants has reduced to 15 when the cause of death is not covid-19," the note adds.
