Angolan bank suspends activities of four exchange offices

The National Bank of Angola (BNA) suspended the activity of four exchange offices, urging citizens to "refrain from establishing business relationships" with them, without, however, explaining the reasons.

:

Gems - Casa de Câmbios, Lda; K9 - Casa de Câmbios, S.A; Alameda - Casa de Câmbios, Lda and Benguela - Casa de Câmbios, Lda are the four institutions with suspended activity.

In a statement, called "Non-Financial Financial Institutions with Suspended Activity", the central bank states that it "authorized the request for suspension" of the activity of these institutions, without advancing the fundamentals.

According to the BNA, Gems is suspended from December 30, 2020 to April 20, 2021, K9 is suspended from January 18 to May 18, 2021, Alameda is suspended from April 1 on 1 October 2021 and Benguela suspended from 8 April to 8 October 2021.

The measure, says the BNA, comes under the Basic Law of Financial Institutions.
