Of the 105 people who are currently in the Kikuxi Urban District reception centre in the municipality of Viana, 11 are girls under 15, according to Paula Contreiras, Municipal Director of Social Action.
In a statement to Angop, the person in charge, who was speaking on the sidelines of the reception of hygiene goods donated by Basel - Sociedade de Detergentes SA, admitted that the number of people who will stay in the centre is expected to increase, since the collection of homeless people in the streets of the country will be intensified while the state of emergency is in force.
The centre consists of a total of 109 rooms, 50 of which are already inhabited, he said.
On Monday, a reception centre was also inaugurated in the Bairro dos Ramiros, in Belas, which has capacity to receive 250 people.
