The Minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu, made the announcement at the inauguration ceremony of the new members of the board of directors of the Port of Lobito and Luanda, the most important in the country.
Ricardo de Abreu said that the competition aims to bring to that region of the country more financial and operational capacity, "that allows to awaken and activate the potential of the Lobito corridor, as a fundamental axis for the development of the southern region".
"But that also promotes through its intervention the development of the regions of the central highlands of our country, in close conjunction with the Benguela Railway," he said.
Speaking to the press, the chairman of the sworn Porto do Lobito Board of Directors, Celso Rosas, said that in the next few days he will proceed to diagnose the situation of the company, meet with workers and authorities in the province, to continue with the work that had been carried out by the previous council and was introducing new work methodologies.
The objective is to see "the company change in the near future, always with a view to improving," said Celso Rosas, admitting that the challenges ahead "are enormous" and the priority is human resources.
