"This is a question (quarantines versus resuscitation of the sector) with a double answer because we all know that with this situation there is a great restriction in the movement of people and the implications are great from the point of view of business sustainability", said the Secretary of State do Turismo, Hélder Chingunde, when questioned by Lusa.
On the one hand, the official said, the hotels that have been selected for institutional quarantines "may be having an opportunity to earn revenue there".
"It is an opportunity for these units that meet requirements to accommodate people in institutional quarantine", he stressed.
On the other hand, according to the official who spoke at a press conference in Luanda, "not all hotels are available to provide institutional quarantine services to citizens, some are not interested".
In addition, he noted, "also not all interested parties meet the typified requirements to welcome citizens in institutional quarantine".
Hélder Chingunde was speaking at a press conference to present executive decree No. 21/20, of 21 July, which defines concrete prevention and control measures to prevent the spread of covid-19.
Asked about the criteria for choosing accommodation at this stage of the covid-19, Hélder Chingunde said that hotel qualifications, such as terms of reference and good management practices, contribute to choices in institutional quarantines.
The Secretary of State for Tourism who said he did not have "at that time" data on the sector's financial losses during this period of the pandemic.
