According to the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, the country now registers a total of 27 positive cases, of which two resulted in deaths, with six people still cured.

The infected teenager, the official explained, was labeled as direct contact from the beginning. "Your father is part of the group of passengers, who arrived from Lisbon on the flight of the 17th of March 2020, in which home quarantine was instituted", he stressed.

Franco Mufinda said that during the quarantine, the inpatient was reported by the wife for non-compliance and, at that time, was placed in institutional quarantine and tested.

“Since then, our rapid response epidemiological surveillance team has placed this family in a home quarantine with close surveillance to ensure strict compliance,” he said.

The seven members of the family had clinical manifestations at times, Franco Mufinda explained, adding that after the quarantine period they were all tested.

"In this context, the whole family was tested and the other contacts related to the case, in a total of 10, in which one was positive, the young woman I already referred to, whose result was obtained today in the early hours," he said.

The patient was admitted to the Barra do Kwanza hospital, family members and other contacts were placed in institutional quarantine, with other additional measures, such as the disinfection of the house where the infected people live, soon being planned.

According to Franco Mufinda, to date, 2242 samples have been collected by the laboratory, of which 27 are positive, 1912 are negative and 303 are being processed.

In institutional quarantine are 837 people, with 397 suspected cases and 954 direct and occasional contacts are followed by the authorities.

Globally, according to a report by the AFP news agency, the covid-19 pandemic has already claimed about 207,000 deaths and infected almost three million people in 193 countries and territories. Nearly 810,000 patients were considered cured.
