Fans, masks, alcohol, thermometers: Government went “shopping” and orders are coming

Prevention remains the watchword in Angola. With the number of positive cases of covid-19 increasing in the past few days, the country has been receiving more and more equipment to fight the pandemic, from gloves, to masks, to ventilators.

:

This Sunday, more than 40 tons of equipment purchased by the Government from South Africa arrived in the capital. These include 50,000 liters of alcohol, azithromycin - a medication for monitoring at least 2000 patients - and 5,000 individual protection boots.

Following these acquisitions, a further shipment of 30,000 biosafety suits, plus medication and alcohol, is expected.

According to the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, this will be a process that "will end in the next few weeks" with the arrival of over 40 tons of products.

The official also said, cited by Angop, that acquisitions made in China are expected at the beginning of May. There are 400 ventilators, nine million surgical masks, 100 thousand suits and more than 1000 infrared thermometers. "The country has about 210 fans, around 600 need," said Franco Mufinda.

It is known that Angola will receive about 5000 beds that will start arriving next week, coming from Lisbon.

With regard to the distribution of equipment, each province and locality will benefit from them, taking into account their specificities and number of inhabitants. "Whoever has more population will receive more," said Franco Mufinda, quoted by the same newspaper.
