Covid-19: numbers go up again. Two new positive tests put total infections at 19

Angola registers two new cases of infection by the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of registrations to 19, the minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, announced this Wednesday.

The minister is a 59-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, both from Portugal and in quarantine centers.

Both patients were asymptomatic and are now in the reference center of Barra do Kwanza.

The reference laboratory has processed 1094 samples so far, with another 165 being processed.

The new coronavirus, responsible for the covid-19 pandemic, has already infected more than 1.4 million people worldwide, of whom more than 82,000 died.

Of the infection cases, about 260 thousand are considered cured.

After appearing in China in December, the outbreak spread across the world, prompting the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare a pandemic.

The European continent, with more than 750 thousand infected and more than 58 thousand dead, is the one with the highest number of cases, and Italy is the country in the world with the most fatalities, accounting for 17,669 deaths in 139,422 confirmed cases until Wednesday -market.

Spain is the second country with the highest number of deaths, registering 14,555 deaths, among 146,690 cases of infection confirmed until Wednesday, while the United States, with 12,910 deaths, is the one that counts more infected (399,929).

China, apart from the territories of Hong Kong and Macau, has 81,802 cases and reports 3333 deaths. Chinese officials announced on Wednesday 62 new cases, 59 of which came from abroad, and two deaths.

In addition to Italy, Spain, the United States and China, the countries most affected are France, with 10,328 deaths (109,069 cases), the United Kingdom, 7097 deaths (60,733 cases), Iran, with 3603 deaths (58,226 cases), and Germany, with 1,861 deaths (103,328 cases).

The number of deaths caused by covid-19 in Africa has exceeded 500 in the last hours in a universe of more than 10,500 cases registered in 52 countries, according to the most recent update of the pandemic data on the continent.
