Price-controlled virus prevention and treatment products

The Government has integrated 39 products for the prevention and treatment of the new coronavirus in the Regulated Price Regime to avoid speculation and to guarantee citizens and companies access to these goods, according to an executive decree.

:

In the decree of the Ministry of Finance, published on March 30 and to which Lusa had access, it is explained that "this regime stems from the need to correct distortions in the formation of prices for certain goods and services".

The Government justified that there were "price changes not justified by normal market conditions" and that the measure "should apply to goods and services, with a special focus on the life of the population and whose production and distribution occur in markets that are not perfectly competitive" .

The diploma applies to all economic agents that produce, distribute and sell goods or provide services in the national territory.

The list includes products such as alcohol gel, disposable masks, surgical gloves, caps, antipyretics such as paracetamol, blue soap, syringes, visors and vitamins.
The National Institute for Consumer Protection (INADEC) announced on Tuesday that the police ordered the arrest, this month, of the heads of two pharmacies in Luanda, due to speculation in the price of protection products against covid-19, a disease caused by the new coronavirus.

The Supervised Price Regime established by law since February 2016 defines the rules for setting and changing prices, as well as mechanisms for control and inspection. The list of goods included in the regime includes 31 products, mainly food.
