Government approves additional credit of 37 million to combat covid-19

The Government approved the opening of an additional credit of 20 billion kwanzas to pay expenses related to the prevention and combat of covid-19, according to a presidential decree to which Lusa had access.

The diploma, published in Diário da República on April 1, states that the 20 billion kwanzas (about 37 million dollars) will be distributed to the “Budget Units with inherent needs” to the object of the decree that refers to the “implementation of mechanisms and measures to prevent and contain the transmission and expansion ”of the disease, as well as to ensure“ minimum conditions essential to combat the pandemic ”.

Angola currently records eight positive cases of infection with the new coronavirus, among which two died.

The new coronavirus, responsible for the covid-19 pandemic, has already infected more than 905,000 people worldwide, of whom almost 46,000 died.

Of the cases of infection, at least 176,500 are considered cured.

After appearing in China in December, the outbreak spread across the world, prompting the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare a pandemic.

The number of deaths in Africa has risen to at least 209 in a universe of more than 5940 confirmed cases in 49 countries, according to statistics on the disease on the continent.
