Jair Yoba is the first angolan to referee a European MMA championship

Jair Yoba was selected by the International Federation of Mixed Martial Arts (IMMAF) to participate, as a referee, in the European Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) championship, taking place in Belgrade (Serbia) this month. With this choice, the referee makes history by becoming the first Angolan to referee a European championship in this sport.

At 31 years old, the Angolan said it was "an honor to receive the invitation" from IMMAF, showing his determination to help the competition be successful.

"It was an honor to receive the invitation from the International Federation, to participate in an activity that normally does not invite referees from other continents. The objective is to leave here with some arbitrary fights with a central referee", said Jair Yoba, speaking to Platinaline.

It should be noted that Jair Yoba started in the world of MMA refereeing in 2021, having obtained an international license during the World Championship in Tirana (Albania), in 2023, in which he showed his ability in 15 fights.

Jair Yoba, in addition to acting as a referee, has also made efforts to develop this sport in the country, setting himself as an example for young talents who wish to pursue a professional path in this sport, writes Platinaline.
